Terrans
Empire: Earth Alliance
Homeworld: Earth (Destroyed)
Hailing originally from Earth, Humans (properly known as Terrans) are a species of evolved mammals. Still primitive by galactic standards Humans have a certain way about them that has entranced the galactic community at larger for some time. Their great curiosity and pension for technological advancement meant that once they reached the next level of development it was not long before leaps were made. It was these same qualities that also made most of the galaxy uneasy about Humans obtaining space flight.
Before the coalescence of the planet's nations it was a place of great violence. Many long and destructive wars were fought for reasons that many galactic citizens could not fathom; most of all religion. Religion in most highly advanced cultures was a predominantly small part of life and certainly not something worth causing violence for, although there are exceptions. However there were almost no galactic races that held religion in the same esteem as many Humans did at the time; believing in a Creator, believing that certain religions were false and must be eliminated, or the prostration of entire cities on certain days to the Gods of those religions. All of these concepts were cast away for true enlightenment by almost every race of space faring peoples.
Even after Humans attained space travel they still retained some of their religious righteousness and it is one of the traits that set Humans apart from other races. There are also still those that cling to the illogical notions of Gods and divine destiny and retribution and at a much greater number than most races. A famed Adent Xenosociologist once categorized this trait of Humanity as an aversion to religious delusions and fantasies during a general assembly of the Intergalactic Governance Council when one of the Alliance's ministers began speaking about Humanity's religious destiny to have a seat on the Grand Council, a part of the governing body that set out laws and met out punishment to empires that broken Intergalactic law.
For the most part Humanity is no different from most of the other races in terms of the breakdown of the society. In later years the balance has shifted significantly due to wars and genocide but in terms of potential and the means to fulfill that potential, Humanity is on par with even the Telvari. This more than makes up for their lack in advanced technologies and still evolving social constructs.
Factions
Old Guard
Homeworld: Europa
The Old Guard faction of the Terran empire is comprised of mainly forces and planets still loyal to the Earth Alliance; many of the remaining high ranking military officers have joined this group and brought their forces and civilians under their command with them. The Old Guard is the largest of the factions and controls the most territory and represents what is still recognized as the Earth Alliance by the Galactic Council.
New Age
Homeworld: Noctfire
The New Age faction are a scattered faction that has chapters on many Terran worlds. They are of the philosophy of the puritans and purists, the xenophobic and isolationists. Many are dscended from the ancient Earth Conservative movements who were completely against both the One World Government and interaction with alien species. The current Earth Alliance administratum (Old Guard) view this faction as political terrorists.
Blood Suns
Homeworld: None
After the destruction of Earth and the overthrow of many worlds there were quite a few Terrans left with no where to go and with nothing in their possession. Those that managed to survive became hardened and gravitated towards the Blood Suns. Steeped in ancient Japanese codes of honor, however not strictly followed as a principle of life but as a general rule of self protectionism, the Blood Suns could be considered closely related to the Yakuza; the Japanese mafia. The Blood Suns will steal from anyone, including other Terran factions to get what they need for their community to survive. Most galactic governments have labeled them as outlaws and they have been placed on the Talirath watch list.
Raikon
Homeworld: Unkown
In recent years a shadowy group calling themselves the Raikon have been undertaking terrorist actions against Sluikan, Groz, and Prokl interests. They claim to be attacking the Groz and Prokl because they refused to lend aid to the Earth Alliance during the Seven Year War; this is true. Not much is known about this group other than this information; no one knows what type of organization it is, if there are leaders, if it is decentralized, or even if the members are actually Terrans. One thing is certain though; of the five hundred attacks they have committed so far, not one of them has failed.
